Wizard Oil Productions was founded in 2005 by Amanda Kate Joshi, Saida Cooper, Cynthia Jankowski, and Demi Williams.  From 2005 - 2010 Wizard Oil developed and produced over twenty plays, readings, and festivals of new work focusing on social issues.  Wizard Oil believes theatre to be a medium that can entertain and enrich lives, while also highlighting, examining, and furthering discussion about problems society faces. 

 

Wizard Oil's production of Adam Kraar's Empire of the Trees was given an Innovative Theatre Award nomination for Outstanding Original Script.  The company's production of Craig McNulty's Welcome Home Steve was rated a Top Pick in Backstage, with reviewer Ron Cohen calling Wizard Oil, "a welcome addition to the Off-Off Broadway scene."
